Privacy Policy for Vaani

Vaani is a Spanish language learning application for Android and the web (package name: com.viena.vaani). Viena (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the App at https://vaani.viena.ai.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use Vaani, including optional Google Sign-In.

Delete your Vaani account

This section is for the Vaani app on Google Play, published by Viena. Follow these steps to request that your account and associated data are deleted.

1. Email info@viena.ai.
2. Send it from the same Google account you used to sign in to Vaani.
3. Use the subject: Vaani account deletion request.
4. Ask Viena to delete your Vaani account and associated data.
5. We complete confirmed requests within 30 days.

Data that is deleted: your Vaani account, name, email, Google user ID, profile photo URL, and Vaani sign-in session.

Data that is not deleted: your Google account. Speech audio is processed in real time and is not kept, so there is no audio recording to delete.

Guest users who tapped Skip for now and never signed in do not have a Vaani account.

1. Information We Process

a) Google account information (if you sign in)

Sign-in is optional. You can use Vaani as a guest with “Skip for now.” If you choose Sign in with Google, Google shows its own consent screen. After you approve, we receive:

• Your Google user ID
• Your name
• Your email address
• Your Google profile photo URL (if Google provides one)

We request the Google scopes openid, email, and profile only. We use this information to sign you in and show your name and photo in the App.

Google also processes data according to Google’s Privacy Policy when you use Sign in with Google.

b) Session information

• After a successful Google sign-in, a session stays on your device so you remain signed in.
• Session tokens expire after 30 days. You can sign out at any time.

c) Audio / microphone data

• The App requests microphone permission so you can practice speaking Spanish, pronunciation, speech assistance, and English-to-Spanish translation.
• Audio may be sent to our servers (or speech / AI services we use) only to process your request in real time and return a response.
• We do not store audio recordings or transcripts.
• We do not use microphone audio for advertising.

d) Usage / technical information

• The App sends requests needed to run features (for example, conversation turns). We do not store device identifiers, analytics profiles, or crash logs about you.
• We do not use third-party analytics providers (for example, Firebase Analytics).

2. How We Use Information

We use the information above to:

• Provide Spanish tutoring, speech practice, and translation features
• Create and manage your optional Vaani account
• Keep you signed in and show your name and profile photo in the App
• Return results to you during your session

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or long-term product analytics.

3. How We Share Information

To run Spanish speech and tutoring features, audio or related requests may be processed by our language tutor backend and related speech / AI service providers. That processing is only to complete your request.

If you sign in with Google, Google authenticates you. We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your account information with advertisers or other unrelated third parties.

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the App, our users, or Viena.

4. Data Retention

• Google sign-in is used only to identify you in the App. You can log out at any time.
• Session tokens expire after 30 days or when you log out.
• Audio is processed to provide the feature you asked for and is not retained after that processing is complete.

5. Your Choices and Rights

• You can skip sign-in and use the App as a guest.
• You can log out from the account menu in the App.
• Depending on where you live, you may have rights related to your personal information.
• To request that your Vaani account and associated data are deleted, go to https://vaani.viena.ai/delete-account.html and follow the steps, or email info@viena.ai from the Google account you used to sign in. We complete confirmed requests within 30 days.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including HTTPS in transit and signed session tokens. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

7. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has created an account or provided personal information through the App, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Third-Party Services

The App may communicate with:

• Our language tutor backend
• Google Sign-In / Google Identity
• Third-party speech or AI services used to run tutoring features

Their processing is governed by their own terms and policies, including Google’s Privacy Policy and Google’s Terms of Service.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
